Friday Aug 02, 2019
As a follow up to our podcast on English Bible translations, we discuss the topic of textual criticism in this episode. Textual criticism is the art of looking at ancient manuscripts with the goal of reconstructing the original text of a document. We have none of the original manuscripts of the Old or New Testament, but we do have close to 6000 copies of the originals. We will discuss what this means, why it is important, and how it relates to our English translations. Buckle up for this valuable discussion on textual criticism and the text of the Bible.

We will be looking at these questions in our continuing study of world religions in our podcast today. World Religions: Shintoism
Friday May 24, 2019
Friday May 24, 2019
Pastors Ben Libby and Nathanael Mayhew look into the religion of Shintoism in our ongoing series on World Religions. Shintoism is a religion that originated in Japan but has changed much in over the years of its existence. It has been influenced by other religions like Buddhism and Hinduism. Since the Second World War, Shintoism has become more a cultural experience and drifted from strict religious devotion. While it is less religious than it once was, it still has dangerous concepts which lead people to emptiness and offers no hope for the sinner. Join us to learn more about the dangers of this Eastern religion.

CPR - The meaning and value of the season of Lent
Saturday Mar 02, 2019
Saturday Mar 02, 2019
The Season of Lent begins this year on March 6th on what is known as Ash Wednesday. Since the very earliest years of the Church, Christians have celebrated the resurrection of Jesus. In 325 AD, at the Council of Nicea, a firm date was established for the annual celebration of this important festival. Already during these early centuries, Christians prepared for the Easter celebration with a period of repentance called Lent (which is an Anglo-Saxon word meaning “spring” since it was at that time of the year this took place). In the 700's AD this period of time was set at 40 days (not including Sundays) based on the 40 days Jesus was tempted while in the wilderness at the start of His ministry. Join Pastors Ben Libby and Mark Tiefel as they discuss the focus, importance and meaning of this ancient season of the church year.

In Part 2 of our review of Matt Walsh's videos against the Biblical view of a Young Earth Creation, Pastors Mark Tiefel and Nathanael Mayhew discuss a few additional issues. Why would Matt Walsh single out Ken Ham and not other Young Earth Creationists? First, he is probably the most familiar, and while he doesn't have a scientific PhD, he has many people working with him who do. Leaders in the fields of biology, astronomy, geology and more work side by side with Ken Ham and also accept the historical record of Genesis 1. Matt Walsh is also inconsistent when he says that he is not insisting on his own view, but then says that Ken Ham is wrong. They also dig into Matt Walsh's view that Genesis is metaphorically/theologically, and the theological problems you have if you take it in a metaphorical way. There is only one interpretation of any verse, and that is God's intended interpretation. Join us for a journey through Biblical interpretation and defending the truth of God's inspired Word!

CPR - Responding to Matt Walsh and his errors about Young Earth Creation
Friday Nov 30, 2018
Friday Nov 30, 2018
Pastor Mark Tiefel joins Nathanael Mayhew to discuss and respond to popular Catholic blogger Matt Walsh and his unscriptural attack on Young Earth Creation, and the account of creation in Genesis 1. Since Matt Walsh is popular in conservative Christian circles, and many of our listeners may have seen his video, we felt it was important to respond an point out the truth as well as the blatant errors of Matt Walsh on this topic. They begin be addressing the topic of how we read and understand the Bible and whether Genesis is literal (historical) or metaphorical. They will discuss the actual Hebrew word for "day" and how God intends it to be understood in Genesis 1. They will discuss the importance of science, and explain the different types of science and what they can and cannot help us know. Finally they will address the reason why this is so important and how such a view as Matt Walsh hold, can lead to dangerous planes and have a very negative impact on the message of Christianity. We hope you find this helpful and instructive.
