In our Word of the Week today we consider a Greek word which Jesus used to describe the Holy Spirit: Paraclete. This word is used four times by Jesus in the upper room on the night before His death to picture the work of the Holy Spirit, whom He promised to send to them. It is often translated "Comforter" or "Helper" in our English translations, but it means "the one who is called to our side" showing what He does for us in bringing us to faith in Jesus. This is a beautiful description of the third person of the God head and very fitting during this season of Easter and as we look ahead to Pentecost.
