In a time of trial and national unrest, the Book of Nehemiah offers a needed reminder that the LORD is in control. Join Pastors Ben Libby and Tom Naumann as they open up this somewhat unfamiliar book of the Old Testament to discuss the LORD's faithfulness and protection as well as Nehemiah's dedication to and confidence in the LORD, and the importance of prayer, especially in times of uncertainty or despair. We will learn how Nehemiah and his contemporaries play an important role in the coming of the Savior, and what we can take away from this book today.

Day 5 - John 14:16 "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever." As Jesus prepared to go to the cross and later to ascend back to heaven, He offers His believers the promise of the Holy Spirit who will be with us, at our side until the end.

Day 3 - Psalm 116:5-6: "The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. The LORD protects the simple-hearted; when I was in great need, he saved me." These verses describe the nature of God, and those attributes give hope to those who are low and in need.

Day 2 - 1 John 5:14: "Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us." When we pray to God, we have confidence that He is near and cares about us in whatever we might be facing. God's will is good and perfect and so we pray according to His will.

Day 1 - Psalm 10:17: "LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear." As we begin this series we are reminded that God hears our cries, that He knows what we are going through, and that He will answer us.

Hymn Review: If God Himself Be For Me

Paul Gerhardt was among the foremost of all Lutheran hymnwriters, writing over 120 hymns. Gerhardt lived a very difficult life, suffering through the 30 years war in Europe, loosing four of his children and his wife to sickness and disease, and even suffering for his faith. Yet the promises of God were his source of strength throughout those difficult times. This hymn reminds us of the God who is for us too, and who is with us whatever we face in this life.
